Doc Johnson Wins StorErotica Award: Best Marketing Campaign of the Year, for School of Doc

At the culminating event of the 2012 ANME summer show, the annual StorErotica Awards, adult novelty founder Doc Johnson was announced as the winner of the Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for their School of Doc program. Recognizing excellence in adult novelty community, the StorErotica Awards honors the best on both the brick and mortar storefront, as well as distributing and manufacturing levels, across eleven total categories. Doc Johnson’s winning School of Doc program is an ongoing campaign that supplies free educational pamphlets, signage, and miniature product samples that inform both staff and consumers about materials, categories, lubricants, vibrators, and even frequently asked questions.

Doc Johnson Care & Maintenance tips!

Hey everyone! Look at what Erica put together for you!

Many of you love our products, but are unsure about how to keep them in prime condition. With all the conflicting information online and in magazines about proper toy maintenance, we can understand the confusion. Here’s a short guide to keeping your Doc Johnson products looking and feeling the best!

Silicone

Whether your toy is a dildo, masturbator, or other device, Silicone is the easiest material to clean because it is nonporous and already so hygienic. You can take several routes with this one– either wash the toy with warm water and soap, boil it for 3 minutes in water, spray it with a 10% bleach solution, or simply pop it into the top-rack of a dishwasher and run it as usual!

UR3

Ultra-Realistic 3.0, or UR3, is the 3rd generation of our best-selling Ultra-Realistic family of products. It is by far the most lifelike material in the industry. To keep these guys in top working shape, wash your toy with mild soap and warm water, then pat it dry. Allow it to completely dry before storage. UR3 is porous and must be stored dusted in talc powder or conrstarch—and do not store them near other materials, as this might eventually cause a reaction that breaks down the product. We suggest our UR3 Refresh Powder, which you can view on our website here: http://www.docjohnson.com/index.php/new-products/ur3-refresh-powder.html

If you follow these directions, your UR3 toy will remain your best friend for years to come. Use only with water-based lubricants.

Lubes/Lotions

These are fairly simple to maintain—simply store your lubes and lotions upright in a cool dry place. Don’t forget to check the expiration date, if applicable!

PVC/ABS/R5

Whether in the form of a vibrator, dildo, or plug, you can clean your PVC, ABS, and R5 (another Doc-Johnson-coined term to mean our fifth generation of “Realistic”) toys with Doc Johnson Antibacterial Toy Cleaner, or with warm water and antibacterial soap. Dry thoroughly before storing, and if the toy isn’t waterproof, do not submerse it in water! As with our UR3 toys, do not store your PVC, ABS, or R5 toys directly next to any other materials, as this might eventually cause a material reaction.

Doc Johnson products are built to last, as long as you care for them properly. We hope you find this guide handy!

During November each year, Movember  is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. Men grow a Mo (moustache) for 30 days to become walking, talking billboards.

With their Mo, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men – so far they’ve raised $174 million dollars in the last 8 years. Funds raised through the Movember US campaign are committed to programs supporting prostate cancer and other male cancer initiatives run by Movember and through the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG.

Doc Johnson has always been an advocate of awareness for men’s and women’s health, and Chad Braverman, COO of Doc Johnson, has taken this opportunity to join the Movember movement and raise funds for this worthwhile campaign. “It’s a solemn fact that about 1,500 people die each day in the United States due to cancer. Our resident chemist, Tim, was on the Derek D and Peter Dicken show!

Our very own chemist, Tim Crawford, was interviewed on the “Derek D and Peter Dickem Show” Saturday night. Tim is the Director of Scientific Affairs at Doc Johnson, which means that he is responsible for any scientific development and controls within the company. The interviewed covered topics ranging from how he concocts a product, to what the office environment is like in mega sex toy company Doc Johnson.

When asked how he designs a product from start to finish, Crawford offered an anecdote in which Chad, Doc’s Chief Officer of Operations, asked Crawford to create something that will “make anal sex easier”. He said that there are about 800,000 chemicals in his library, and he simply works from the ground up. Once finished with his anal lube concoction, and it was approved, he gave it to a female friend as a gift. Crawford said that his female friend was so happy with it that during sex she began screaming Tim’s name instead of her husband’s!

Of course, with great power comes with great responsibilities, and Tim has the extremely important responsibility of making sure all of the products he concocts are body-safe. When asked about government health regulations, Tim said that there are many, and that he is conscious of them every time he makes a new product. For example, with his “Salad Tossing Spray”, Tim made sure that not only did the product work perfectly, but that it also corresponded with all of those health regulations.

As for the environment in such a sexualized business, Tim noted that the women far outnumber the men in the office. However, in this business, we are all equally “open” when it comes to toy testing. It just depends on what your “parts” allow you to try.

Meet erotic painter, Valeria Rzianina – part two
