Doc Johnson Wins StorErotica Award: Best Marketing Campaign of the Year, for School of Doc

At the culminating event of the 2012 ANME summer show, the annual StorErotica Awards, adult novelty founder Doc Johnson was announced as the winner of the Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for their School of Doc program. Recognizing excellence in adult novelty community, the StorErotica Awards honors the best on both the brick and mortar storefront, as well as distributing and manufacturing levels, across eleven total categories. Doc Johnson’s winning School of Doc program is an ongoing campaign that supplies free educational pamphlets, signage, and miniature product samples that inform both staff and consumers about materials, categories, lubricants, vibrators, and even frequently asked questions.

News from Australia! Our Founder and CEO, Ron Braverman, won the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award at AdultEx! Presented by Calvista CEO, Michael Bassett, the award represents a career in manufacturing, product design, brand establishment and excellence in the adult novelty category of consumer packaged goods.  The crowd cheered loudly for Ron during this presentation.

We had a booth at the tradeshow, and the response from attendees was great.  Our Director of Sales – International, Greg said: “School of Doc, The new Vac-U-Lock packaging/ program, Wonderland and Mood/ Rock Star displays were very well received with overwhelming enthusiasm. We also focused on Made in USA items, with special promotions on male masturbators (All Star Porn Stars, Pocket Pals, Palm Pals), Noches Latinas, Vibrating Classics, Crystal Jellies and Softees.  The responses to the Vac-U-Lock tri-fold supplement catalog and video, the Wonderland video and the SOD pamphlets/ holders was just phenomenal.  Attendees loved that we were taking our service to the next level with extended retail and end-user support.  Nearly every Calvista customer requested School of Doc materials and links to the Vac-U-Lock/ Wonderland videos. The show was very strong and busy..  The tradeshow was alive with activity and we had nonstop visitors to our booth.  Fortunately, I had help from local adult retailer shops.  Marinda and Bridget were brought in by Calvista to assist me in running the booth.” The show featured a big Fetish party on Day 2.  And Day 3 was moderate in attendance and activity as the show wound down to a close.”

Movember update #2 – attack of the ‘stache

Friedrich Nietzsche. Salvador Dali. Albert Einstein. Burt Reynolds. What do these men have in common?

A mustache of course.

The ‘stache has gained and waned in popularity, but it has certainly made a positive comeback. Movember is changing the face of men’s health, one moustache at a time. During November each year, thousands of men let their hair down, so to speak, in the US and around the world. Armed with their moustaches and a dream, these men raise vital funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men, by asking friends and family to sponsor them. As a result, Movember has been extremely successful, raising a cool 174 million for men’s health since its infancy.

Of course, with great power comes great responsibility, and those taking part in Movember have the great responsibility of choosing what kind of moustache to grow. Doc Johnson’s COO, Chad Braverman, describes his moustache as “incredibly dirty but at the same time beyond manly and somewhat itchy”. Sarai Ponce joins Doc Johnson Sales Team

North Hollywood, CA – Doc Johnson Enterprises, the world’s largest designer and manufacturer of novelties and sex toys, welcomes Sarai Ponce to the Sales Team. Sarai Ponce joins the Doc Johnson team after four years in the adult industry.

Ponce previously spent four years growing accounts and expanding the European market for Sportsheets International. Our resident chemist, Tim, was on the Derek D and Peter Dicken show!

Our very own chemist, Tim Crawford, was interviewed on the “Derek D and Peter Dickem Show” Saturday night. Tim is the Director of Scientific Affairs at Doc Johnson, which means that he is responsible for any scientific development and controls within the company. The interviewed covered topics ranging from how he concocts a product, to what the office environment is like in mega sex toy company Doc Johnson.

When asked how he designs a product from start to finish, Crawford offered an anecdote in which Chad, Doc’s Chief Officer of Operations, asked Crawford to create something that will “make anal sex easier”. He said that there are about 800,000 chemicals in his library, and he simply works from the ground up. Once finished with his anal lube concoction, and it was approved, he gave it to a female friend as a gift. Crawford said that his female friend was so happy with it that during sex she began screaming Tim’s name instead of her husband’s!

Of course, with great power comes with great responsibilities, and Tim has the extremely important responsibility of making sure all of the products he concocts are body-safe. When asked about government health regulations, Tim said that there are many, and that he is conscious of them every time he makes a new product. For example, with his “Salad Tossing Spray”, Tim made sure that not only did the product work perfectly, but that it also corresponded with all of those health regulations.

As for the environment in such a sexualized business, Tim noted that the women far outnumber the men in the office. However, in this business, we are all equally “open” when it comes to toy testing. It just depends on what your “parts” allow you to try.
